Jazz in the Round Featuring Andy Milne

Toronto native Andy Milne draws inspiration from various forms of music, politics, philosophy, comedy and science fiction. Considered one of the most important and respected voices in jazz today, Milne is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the prestigious Civitella Fellowship in 2011; a 2012 commission by The Japan Foundation and New Music USA to create Strings and Serpents, a multi-disciplinary project featuring artists from a number of countries; and an invitation to compose an orchestral work for The American Composers Orchestra as part of their JCOI New Music Recordings in 2013. Milne composed and produced the film score for seven documentary films directed by William Shatner.

Milne is a member of the highly recognizable group Dapp Theory and performs with jazz greats, including Cassandra Wilson. In addition to his multiple projects and accolades, Milne is a sought after educator. He is the assistant director of The School for Improvisational Music and is an adjunct professor at New York University, New School University and Columbia University.
