Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues

Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues

Presented by Strathmore at AMP by Strathmore

You’ve never heard the blues like this before! Corky Siegel, a harmonica-slinging blues master, howls over the surprising accompaniment of a string quartet. Siegel is one of the few modern musicians who can truly claim to have forged an entirely original genre of music. This sonic experiment began in 1966 when world-renown classical Maestro Seiji Ozawa approached the blues artist and suggested a collaboration. Guiding the blues of Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters out of the smoky cavern of Big John’s and onto the stages of the Chicago Symphony and beyond, this harmonica-playing mad scientist has the tuxedo-and-gown crowd on its feet, clamoring for more of his blues-classical alchemy.
