OCEAN Orchestra, led by composer and producer Jennifer Cutting, blend folk rock with the timeless beauty of the Celtic tradition. Under the guidance of Cutting, the 8-piece orchestra will play its new album, Waves, in its entirety. With this album Cutting sought to expand the horizons of her repertoire beyond folk and Celtic music. Strands of diverse genres including 1960s pop, southern rock, and Bollywood can be found throughout the record. While the music shifts and shakes its way through its eclectic influences, Cutting’s lyrics touch upon universal themes that engage audiences with tales of humor, joy, and sometimes anger.

Early in their decades-spanning career Pete and Maura Kennedy spent years touring with Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra; this inspired them to set out on a musical pathway that has seen them blend folk rock influences from all over the country and across the Atlantic. Their most recent album, 2015’s West, is the sound of a band seamlessly weaving their influences from the past two decades. Buddy Holly style roots meet the tuneful cadences of The Everly Brothers, while other moments blend the ringing 12-string jangle of the early Byrds with moments of darkness that recall Fairport Convention-style British folk rock.
