Sharon Lee Minor (aka Sharon Minor King) is the founder of A MINOR ENTERPRISE, a consultancy and cultural exchange firm that produces quality educational materials representing communities, globally. She is a Visual and Performance Artist, Cultural Anthropologist, and Arts Educator. She has presented lecture-demonstrations, performances, and exhibitions at numerous colleges, universities, galleries, churches, communities centers, and international conferences.
Sharon synthesizes art and anthropology in her visual and performance artwork. She has been exhibited throughout the U.S., Canada, and Ghana, West Africa. Local exhibitions include the “Ordinary Woman” exhibit (Howard County Cultural Arts Center), the annual MSPGS exhibition at Strathmore Mansion, and the “Art ‘n” Soul” exhibit (National Center for Children and Families).
During the throes of Covid-19, through the support of emergency funding, she created an online re-enactment of a controversial symposium held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1969 which featured seven outstanding Black artists discussing their approaches to Black Art and Aesthetics. The online presentation was portrayed by residents of Montgomery County as the artists. The community building experience from that project has spawned many opportunities to reach other communities throughout the nation and worldwide.
Sharon is the recipient of funding support from AHCMC for FY22 and FY23. Her current research foci are on Art, Health, and Aging.
