Motherhood modified musician Falguni Shah’s modus operandi. When the classically trained Mumbai, India-born and -bred vocalist known as Falu sought music that both her son and adults could enjoy, she came up empty handed. So, “I decided to give it a shot myself,” she said.
The annual festival known as Imagination Bethesda celebrates children and the arts by featuring fun, food and entertainment that is provided by some of the businesses and arts organizations that give the community its gloss--from Strathmore to Imagination Stage to Montgomery Parks to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase YMCA.
Alive with love, magic and intrigue, “Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp” at Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) at Glen Echo Park offers a delightful look into Middle Eastern culture through retelling one of the traditional stories from the “One Thousand and One Nights.”
Song, dance and a bit of poetry bring to life a fairytale world of magic spells, good and evil, and love and betrayal in the world premiere musical, “Ella Enchanted,” on stage at Adventure Theatre MTC in Glen Echo Park.
Ford is one of several child performers in Metro region professional who balance the demands of the theater alongside adolescence and schoolwork. The commitments sometimes require them to leave school early and do additional assignments outside of education hours. "I get everything done sooner or later," Ford said.
“It’s about anything and everything we aspire to as human beings, but don’t necessarily achieve,” said Janet Stanford, Imagination Stage’s artistic director.
