The Gaithersburg Book Festival is accepting applications for Featured Author slots and Workshop Leaders.

Please note, the deadline to apply as a Featured Author is November 1st. And the deadline to apply as a Workshop leader is March 1, 2024.

Featured Author

Join us at the Gaithersburg Book Festival on May 18, 2024, for a day-long, outdoor celebration of books and reading. Our Festival tents are filled with eager audiences for author talks and signings, free writing workshops, and singer-songwriter performances. We are proud to have welcomed hundreds of talented authors and performers to our stages. Now in its 15th year, the Festival has established itself as one of the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area’s premier literary events.

How Can An Author Be Featured at the Gaithersburg Book Festival? Our Author Recruitment Committee invites selected authors to participate as Featured Presenters in solo and panel discussions. Writers or their representatives interested in being a Featured Presenter at the Gaithersburg Book Festival are encouraged to submit an application for consideration.

Lead a Workshop

Professionals in the literary community with experience teaching or leading workshops on the craft or business of writing are invited to submit proposals for workshops they would like to lead in-person at the Festival. Selected workshop leaders are paid a small stipend – OR provided with a complimentary exhibitor booth at the festival.

Each year, the Festival sponsors fun and informative writing workshops for adults, teens and children. In years past, offerings have ranged from poetry and building suspense in a mystery to college essay tips and comic book basics. Workshops are free to our attendees and led by professionals from around the region.

Consideration of workshop proposals by the Workshop Selection Committee is based on a variety of factors, including teaching experience, topic appeal, and ensuring a variety of offerings. Proposed workshops should be 30 to 60 minutes long and specific in scope and target audience age range.
