Summary
The Artivate Board of Directors is seeking a dynamic individual to lead the organization forward. For more than 25 years, Artivate has collaborated with dozens of professional artists to engage communities through interactive arts experiences that inspire learning. We reach children, teens, and families across the greater Washington, DC area and throughout Maryland, providing educational performances and workshops representing a wide range of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions.
The Executive Director is the chief executive/staff officer of the organization and is responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of Artivate’s operations to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning – Develop and implement Artivate’s Strategic Plan and annual action plans in conjunction with the board to advance the mission of the organization.
Program Oversight – Collaborate with Director of Artist and Community Programming to develop, implement and evaluate programs and services that are consistent with the organization’s mission and Strategic Plan and that meet the needs of constituents and Artivate artists.
Financial Management – Together with the board, develop and manage the fundraising and financial strategies of the organization; develop an annual budget for approval by the board; oversee earned and contributed support and expenses.
Development & Fundraising/Grants Management – Develop and implement strategies to maintain current giving, increase gifts and attract new donors, including creation of marketing and communication materials that present consistent branding, design, and messaging; preserve, nurture, and expand relationships with current and prospective funders.
Staff Leadership and Management – Identify, recruit, train and develop a talented team of staff members; recruit and oversee consultants, as needed, to meet goals and objectives; prioritize staff development and encourage staff to take advantage of professional development opportunities. Collaborate with staff to continue Artivate’s mission and ensure efficient operation of the organization.
Community/Relations Advocacy– Serve as Artivate’s designated media spokesperson; partner and collaborate with other organizations to advocate for the arts in its capacity to strengthen education, stimulate creative self-expression, and inspire a fresh view of the world.
Board Administration and Support – Articulate Artivate’s achievements and direction at regular board meetings; collaborate with board leadership to consider policy and program initiatives, plan agendas, prepare materials, including regular reports on organizational progress; coordinate work with board committees.
