Glen Echo Park Partnership Galleries announces a Call for Artwork for an upcoming juried exhibition. Our theme, 100 Years In The Present, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Park's iconic Dentzel carousel. This menagerie carousel features 52 animals and is a historical focal point of the park. 100 Years In The Present honors the historic origins of Glen Echo Park as a theme park -- exploring feelings of nostalgia, outdoor recreation, nature, and play. A year unexpectedly spent indoors has reminded us what we miss about gathering, particularly outdoors, and how we’re looking forward to engaging when the time is right. What outdoor spaces do we miss the most? How can we 'travel’ in our own city? How do we interact in the present as vessels of time and space? How do we honor symbols of memory and belonging?

This artwork call is for an in-person exhibition in our Popcorn Gallery and Stone Tower Gallery, with an emphasis on showcasing a dynamic group of artists in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. This call is open to artists 25 years of age or older, working in all traditional and non-traditional 2D and 3D media, including sculpture and digital artwork.
