Call for Letters of Interest - Hosting the Dance/USA 2024 Summer Fellowships

Dance/USA invites Letters of Interest from organizations and artists interested in serving as a host for a 2024 Dance/USA Summer Fellowship in Archiving & Preservation. A call for Fellows to be placed with selected projects will go out in late 2023. To submit a letter of interest, complete the form below by September 20th at 11:59pm Pacific Time. No additional materials are needed at this stage.

Dance/USA’s summer Archiving and Preservation Fellowships pair library science students or other emerging archivists with dance companies, arts organizations, and independent artists to complete archiving projects.

The goals of this Fellowship program are:

1. To develop an engaged, passionate, and well-trained next generation of archivists in the dance field;
2. To advance models for community-based archiving assistance to regional dance communities;
3. To provide high quality archival assistance to dance organizations and artists who may otherwise not have the resources, time, or expertise to access professional archiving services.

Each host location will be assigned one Fellow who will work with the organization/artist to develop and execute an archiving project over the course of 13 weeks in the summer of 2024. This opportunity is open to all regardless of membership status with Dance/USA. The 2024 Fellowships may take place in person, remotely, or as a hybrid experience based on the needs of the host. Please feel free to include information about your needs and priorities around in-person vs. remote work in your written answers.

Host organizations/artists receive a stipend of $7,500 to support the time and labor needed to successfully execute an archiving project, as well as a budget of $1,000 for archival supplies.
