Creative Aging is sequential, skill-based, arts learning for older adults that embeds intentional social engagement activities. National partner, Lifetime Arts leads the highly experiential and participatory virtual training. (This series will not address nor provide training in art therapy approaches/techniques).

Arts Provider Training for Community Teaching Artists and Arts Educators

Upon successful completion, participants will:

  • Receive a $300 stipend
  • Earn a #mcreds Creative Aging credential
  • Be featured in the Maryland Creative Aging Directory
  • Be invited to present at the Provider Showcase for Maryland Vendors in February 2022
  • Have access to January Office hours for curriculum/program design feedback from Lifetime Arts

Training Goals

  • Learn about the history, supporting research, and exemplary programming happening across this growing field
  • Experience a demonstration of andragogical approaches and best practices, in addition, participants will explore ageism and its impact on the design and delivery of creative aging programming
  • Understand best practices for both in-person and remote programming, with a focus on online delivery
  • Gain practical knowledge and access to resources that will prepare them to develop, design, and deliver responsive arts education programs for older adult

Successful completion of the Creative Aging Provider Training #mcred includes attendance at the three sessions and completion of four (4) written Assignments. Each assignment takes 90 minutes to complete. Stipends and #mcreds will be awarded to all participants upon successful completion.

To receive the Creative Aging #mcred, participants must FIRST complete the prerequisite #mcreds course, Learning Through the Creative Process. Then upon successful completion participants will submit all of their assignments for review to receive the Creative Aging #mcred endorsement. MSDE CPD credit is also available for Maryland educators.

 **Have not completed the prerequisite course? No problem! MSDE can grant a partial waiver of the prerequisite course. Participants will be required to complete the prerequisite course by December 31, 2022.
