Round House offers apprenticeships designed to offer on-the-job training for committed, highly motivated individuals who are ready to embark upon a professional theatre career. Apprentices are directly exposed to the theatre’s daily operations and given the opportunity to learn alongside an accomplished company of artists, teachers, and administrators. In addition to their specialized training, apprentices gain additional insight into workings of a professional regional theatre through regularly scheduled seminars led by guest speakers and members of the theatre’s senior staff.

The program generally requires a 10-month commitment beginning in early August and concluding in late June. Apprentices receive an hourly wage and are expected to work 25 to 40 hours a week, based on the needs/schedule of their department. We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills, and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. The apprenticeship program is a training program, and significant prior experience is not required.

The Education Apprenticeship provides on-the-job training for an early career educator and administrator and provides an opportunity to learn the inner workings of a multi-faceted education program at an Equity Theatre. Through daily interaction and direct mentorship by the Education staff, the position provides a chance to see administrators, educators, and artists at work. The Apprentice serves as a teaching assistant/faculty for RHT education programs and will participate in curriculum and program development. Other responsibilities include: providing day-to-day administrative support, working on long term projects, and assisting with key outreach experiences. Applicants should have the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects, work collaboratively, demonstrate professionalism and be a skilled communicator. Experience working with children or students of any age preferred. This is a season-long apprenticeship. To apply, submit a cover letter and resume to the Round House Theatre Education Department at Education@RoundHouseTheatre.org.
