This position is responsible for the editing internal and external projects at Montgomery Community Media. Will consult with clients and producers prior to editing sessions. May also be required to operate a variety of equipment during field and in-studio productions.

Job Type: Full-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as editor throughout all phases of post-production.
  • Responsible for control room/edit suite set-up, entry and compilation of all required elements.
  • Coordinate edit sessions with in-house staff to review specific requirements.
  • Complete all assigned post-production projects within an assigned timeframe as required to meet deadlines.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of post-production procedures and training guidelines for full-time staff and production technicians.
  • Regularly submit reports on post-production updates and post-production evaluations.
  • Facilitate the delivery of edited projects to the programming team.
  • Assist in the coordination of production technicians during selected post-production assignments.
  • May be required to perform duties such as Technical Director, Audio Technician, or similar functions on in-studio or field productions.
  • Assume other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television Production. Communication or Public Administration or related bachelor’s degree also may apply. Adequate work experience may substitute for education requirement.
  • Position requires two to five years of post-production experience, with an emphasis on non-linear editing.
  • Commitment to community media, Public, Education and Government (PEG) access cable television, first amendment rights, and public interest telecommunications.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with production and technical teams.
  • Proven track record in video production, including, planning and oversight, in the development of video programs and/or customer service to content producers.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with government agencies, community groups and individuals  unfamiliar with the production process.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines.
  • Working knowledge and experience in a variety of video production environments, equipment and/or systems, and Mac-based applications and tools, specifically with the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator and Photoshop), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Sound business judgment to ensure fiscally responsible decisions. · Excellent analytical skills. Ability to evaluate analysis to determine the best value-added decisions to match organization and user requirements, and work processes.
