A discussion of “shared stewardship” archival collections management model where people co-manage archival collections in which they appear.

Do you or your community have cultural heritage items that you don’t know how to care for? Do you want to ensure their longevity but don’t want to give up control? This webinar presents shared stewardship, a collections management model in which communities and individuals can ensure the long-term care of their cultural heritage items and retain control of those materials. Lumbee community artist and scholar Ashley Minner and hip hop artist Shodekeh discuss with archival professionals Beth Saunders (UMBC) and Ashley Todd-Diaz (Towson) how shared stewardship has made their respective archival collections possible, ensuring cultural heritage items receive long term care while being maintained in their community contexts.
