“Summer School” Best Practices for Nonprofits - Fiscal Sponsorships

You may have heard about Fiscal Sponsorship, a funny legal arrangement that allows you, or our business, to partner with an existing 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in order to use their tax exempt status to fundraise like a nonprofit. Sounds useful! But, Fiscal Sponsors, and the agreements that govern those relationships, come in all shapes and sizes and may, or may not, be right for the project/business/endeavor that you’re working on. During this session, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts will review how Fiscal Sponsorship works and what you should consider when considering whether or not to become a fiscal sponsoree!
