Awaken your imagination, ignite your emotions, and open your mind to the transformative power of theatre. It is the beginning of an actor’s journey of exploration to uncover the meaning and vision of any play and playwright in order to discover the “who, why, where, when and how” of each character to best serve the vision of a play. In this online workshop, teens will explore and rehearse a monologue of their own choice to work on during given sessions. Lessons, conversations, and theatre exercises will enhance the journey and open tools for application in the work. Students should choose monologues of two minutes or less for submission to the instructor prior to the first day of class. Best efforts to read the entire script of the play containing the monologue should be made, but are not mandatory, to enhance the learning process.
This virtual workshop will be taught by Brad Watkins, a director, actor, writer, and producer and a life-long student of the theatre. Brad has directed and/or cast more than 200 shows and spent four years seeing more than 500 productions as a judge for the Helen Hayes Awards.
