In a free program, enjoy Beethoven’s magnificent concerto “The Emperor” in a version for piano soloist and chamber group. After intermission we move to 21st century woodwind quintets, with two delightful works by Ewazen and Say.
We open Beethoven's 250 anniversary year with a stunning program. John Sutherland Earle plays the brilliant Emperor concerto, transcribed for piano and string sextet. After intermission we leap into the 21st century with two short and tuneful works for woodwind quintet, composed by Eric Ewazen and Fazil Say.
String players in the Beethoven are Carolyn Wu, Aaron Panner, Andrew Crane, Irina Desmond, and Michael Rohrer.
