This exhibition, featuring paintings by Jessica Hopkins and Mariama McCarthy, explores the practice of portraiture as a method of revealing or concealing personal histories, particularly in depictions of marginalized and oppressed persons, and considers the unique burdens inherent to these representations.

During our visit we attended an Open Studio session, visited the Betty Boyd Dettre Library and Research Center and saw “The Sky’s the Limit”.

We visited Alliance Comics in Downtown #SilverSpring to highlight their expansive collection of comics and graphic novels. They offer comic reservations, have a comic buyback program and even open an hour early on Wednesday for new releases. It was a pleasure visiting #AllianceComics and picking up a few $1 comics to jumpstart my collection.
