Join AHCMC for the free opening reception of dis/figure on Friday, Sept. 22 from 6 – 8pm.
This exhibition, featuring paintings by Jessica Hopkins and Mariama McCarthy, explores the practice of portraiture as a method of revealing or concealing personal histories, particularly in depictions of marginalized and oppressed persons, and considers the unique burdens inherent to these representations.
