ESCAPISM Exhibition by Vian Borchert

ESCAPISM is a series of artwork where artist, Vian Borchert, showcases here latest paintings done during COVID times at the Framer’s Choice Gallery in Gaithersburg, MD. The solo exhibitions features 25 original paintings by Borchert. The exhibit is from May 1 till June 12, 2021. The Framer’s Choice Gallery is open from Monday – Saturday: 10 AM – 3 PM. The gallery is located at: 402 Main Street, Gaithersburg, MD 20878

In ESCAPISM, the artist finds herself transported into her daydreams and imagination while falling more into her art and art creation. The artist states that “it is almost deliberate the need to escape this reality that one finds oneself living in. Although it is hard to escape the harsh truths of our COVID-19 times; yet, I find my mind wandering into a world of imagination and dreams. Art for sure facilitates my escape into my own created world where self expression and gestural energy reign supreme. The Zen like approach of creating art helps me escape into my own wonderland where it’s a breezy stroll by the sea while the birds sing up above.” Borchert feels that the confinement has aided her escapism and birthed much meaning to the word. The latest paintings become a metamorphosis of journeys that the artist would like to embark upon. The capture of good feelings and memories through composition, color and form all mélange together to help the artist escape the difficult aspects of our current times. Borchert exclaims that “It is through the process of creation that I find myself stepping away from the fear of the shadows of death that plague our existence. Through my artistic journey, it becomes clear to me that it is through art I have found the greatest escape!”
