The Gaithersburg Community Museum presents a program of exploration for young visitors which takes place on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon in July and August. Supplies are limited (first come, first served). Admission is free with no reservations required. Donations to cover program costs are appreciated. Recommended for ages 6 and up.
- July 5 – Building Day with Imagination Playground blocks, Lincoln Logs®, and more
- July 12 – Earth Science Day: explore Earth Sciences through experiments
- July 19 – Animal Day: meet the Gaithersburg Police K-9 Unit and shelter animals from the Montgomery County Humane Society, make toys for shelter animals and more
- July 26 – Shadow Day: explore shadows through play, stories and experiments
- August 2 – Bird Watching: decorate binoculars, learn about local songbirds and then go bird watching
- August 9 – Recycling: The Montgomery County Recycling Center will be at the museum. There will be hands-on activities and demonstrations, make a craft from recycled material
- August 16 – Solar Eclipse: learn about the August 21 eclipse and do related science experiments
