Whether persisting, resisting, or just existing, women have played a powerful role in music as performers, composers, conductors, collaborators or muses. The 2018-2019 Levine Presents season celebrates women in all their musical roles.
The International Sweethearts of Rhythm was the first integrated, and truly international, all women's band in the United States. Playing swing and jazz on a national circuit in the 1940's, the band featured some of the best female musicians of the day performing in top venues coast to coast.
