Step into the world of Indian classical music through the amazing Sitar with this four class workshop. A simple and easy way to know about an old tradition with the resonating sitar that has mesmerized the world.
A four-class introduction to the Sitar and Indian classical music, this is a great way to learn more about the beautiful world of sitar and the music. Open to musicians of all instruments, as well as to non-musician and beginners, the syllabus will include the following:
- About the instrument
- How to hold the instrument
- Basic techniques
- Intro to Raga
- Hindustani Melodic Form
- Intro to Tala
- Hindustani Rhythmic Form
- and more!!
Sitars will be available for renting.

Each student needs a sitar. Students can bring their own sitars or they can rent sitars for $50 for the four classes. The instruments can be taken home after signing a 'Sitar Niketan Rental MOU'.
