Valentine's Day Special! Mixed Media: Reclaimed Cabinet Doors

Show your love for art and the environment by making a unique gift for a loved one or yourself just in time for the holiday! In this class, students will learn about waste and how it impacts the environment, as well as what they can do to combat the issues, all while creating a masterpiece of their own. Students will get to choose a 12” x 15” cabinet door in a plethora of wood types & styles with a stained, painted, or laminated finish that have been donated to VisArts by a local cabinet company. These doors were once destined for an eternity in a landfill because they either “expired,” have minor damage or were incorrect for a project. Participants will upcycle these doors by decorating them with puffy paint, paint pens & mixed media such as rhinestones, decorative paper, silk flowers, etc. Students are encouraged to bring ideas and special mixed media materials with them that they may want to incorporate into their piece.
