Wave bye, bye, bye to the staid chamber music performances of yore. This Houston-based wind quintet promises you a boundary-pushing thematic program that mixes classical standards and new works by American composers with a pop-rock sensibility. Youthful energy abounds! Their dramatic presentations strive to reach new heights of theatricality by incorporating choreography, costumes, and multimedia elements. One of only two professional wind quintets in the country, these avant-garde innovators memorize all their music, allowing them the freedom to move (and sometimes sing).

• The group’s name is a nod to boy band ‘N Sync and reflects the rock star sensibility founder Garrett Hudson is striving to inject into the classical realm.
• Bassoonist Kara LaMoure can be heard on the original soundtrack to The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.
• WindSync is currently developing a full-length, space-themed concert program commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
