Women Who Paved the Way

Whether persisting, resisting, or just existing, women have played a powerful role in music as performers, composers, conductors, collaborators or muses. The 2018-2019 Levine Presents season celebrates women in all their musical roles.

In the 60’s and 70’s, groundbreaking groups like The Staple Singers and The Supremes, and powerful vocalists such as Betty Wright, Tina Turner and Janis Joplin paved the way for women in popular music.

Featuring: Shacara Rogers (vocals), Jeremy Castillo and Eric Ulreich (guitar), Sein Oh (piano), Karine Chapdelaine (bass), Manny Arciniega (percussion)
