    The Highwood Theatre is a non-profit organization, based in downtown Silver Spring, MD, that offers a wide range of theatre classes and productions, including student plays and musicals, home school classes and performances, student tech crew, private lessons, improv comedy shows, and professional productions. We believe in building community through the arts, and we welcome performers of all skill levels and experience. We truly believe ANYONE can do theatre!

    The Puppet Co. Playhouse is a year-round center featuring family and children's puppet theater performances, exhibits, and classes. We have special shows for very young children, sensory performances for special-needs kids, and space for birthday celebrations!

    About The King Street Gallery: The King Street Gallery’s exhibitions complement the academic programs of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Montgomery College Takoma Park/Silver Spring while enriching the Silver Spring arts community. Exhibitions focus on current work by contemporary artists. The gallery is on the ground floor of The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center on the west side of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The center is located off Georgia Avenue at 930 King Street. Parking is available in the West Campus Garage, located immediately behind the center. About the Open Gallery: The Open Gallery’s exhibitions complement the academic programs of Montgomery College's Department of Visual and Performing Arts while bringing art to the community. As part of the Silver Spring arts community, exhibitions focus on current pieces by working artists. The gallery is on the ground floor of The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Arts Center on the west side of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The center is located off Georgia Avenue at 930 King Street. Parking is available in the West Campus Garage, located immediately behind the center. About Performing Arts: The performing arts area includes the disciplines of dance, film, music, and theater. Students may select from diverse offerings in introductory and advanced courses in these disciplines. A wide variety of courses fulfill the art distribution requirement under the college's general education program. The Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus offers Montgomery College's only array of film classes including film writing, movie production, and editing. The department produces two to three theater productions per year in the Cultural Arts Center which is the home of the performing arts on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The Cultural Arts Center has two theaters, the Main Theater, which is a 500 seat proscenium theater, and the Studio Theater, which is a 116 seat modified thrust theater. Specialty classrooms include a large, glass-walled dance studio and a 16 station piano lab with individual keyboards.

    The White House Studios provides performing arts programs and educational services in dance, music, theatre arts, fashion, modeling and pageantry, as well as event management for cultural activities, and seeks to preserve Caribbean and African culture, throughout the DMV. The studio has been directed by Althea Grey-McKenzie, an awarded artist and choreographer, since 2002. TWHS features its resident performing group, Caribbean Dance Traditions, at numerous events and programs including: Discover Strathmore: Colors of the Caribbean, World of Montgomery Festival, Takoma Park Folk Festival, Magical Montgomery, Taste of Wheaton, Wheaton Arts Parade, Silver Spring Dance Fitness Festival, Discover Bonifant, Rockville International Night, Gaithersburg DiverCity Fest, Caribbean Day at KIDMuseum, Caribbean Heritage Festival, Port Towns Day, DC International Festival, H Street Festival, Embassies and County Libraries and schools. We bring movement and music from around the Caribbean, West Africa, Asia and Europe to diverse audiences and continue to support collaborations of cultural traditions in creating exciting theatrical presentations.     Unexpected Stage Company is a professional theater company founded in 2010 to explore the intimacies and intricacies of the human experience. Unexpected Stage has received three Helen Hayes Award nominations, and has been Helen Hayes Award Recommended for its productions of Lady in the Van and Candy and Dorothy.

    VLOC was founded in 1978 to perform musical works of the Victorian era. Their first show was Trial By Jury paired with Haddon Hall. Since that time they have performed all but two of the Gilbert & Sullivan canon many times over. They have also branched out into other European operettas and even grand opera, Mozart's The Magic Flute & Donezetti's The Elixir of Love. The mission of the company has been and continues to be to provide high quality performances of light operatic works, providing educational and performance opportunities to our community.

    Washington Revels stages celebrations filled with traditional music, dance, drama and rituals from around the world, revolving around the cycle of the seasons and the joys of community connections. Revels celebrations involve adults and children of all ages, and audience participation is a hallmark. Performers and audience alike become part of a community that stretches across cultural boundaries and through the ages of time, illustrating the common humanity that binds us all together. We invite you to become an active player as singer, dancer, musician, crafter, crew, or audience in year-round seasonal celebrations, community events, performance ensembles, and education programs.

    Young Artists of America at Strathmore (YAA) trains high school and middle school level performing artists in collaboration with leading, professional artists to present fully-orchestrated productions at state-of-the-art venues, like our home stage at the Music Center at Strathmore. Our productions have been nominated and won Regional Emmys.
