    Artivate's mission is engaging communities to create interactive arts experiences that inspire learning. We are a community of artists that offer arts-based learning to motivate and invite audiences to participate through performances and workshops representing a wide range of artistic disciplines and cultural traditions in order to captivate minds and activate human potential. Through our focus on education, we enable access to the Arts for all, particularly under-resourced communities, throughout Maryland, DC and northern Virginia. We see the transformative power of the Arts as an essential part of community life – enhancing education and creating connections that transcend language, culture and individual circumstances to cultivate cultural awareness and a broader world perspective. Artivate was founded in 1995 in response to the demand for high quality, ethnically diverse cultural arts programs in our schools. Throughout our 20+ year history we have remained constant in our goal to bring the Arts to people where they are. Today, we reach hundreds of thousands of participants each year with performances, workshops and residencies taught by our carefully vetted and highly skilled teaching artists who open doors to different cultures and learning experiences.

    BlackRock Center for the Arts, located in the heart of Germantown, Maryland, provides a variety of live music performances, exhibitions, and arts education for people of all ages in Upper Montgomery County and the surrounding area. Our welcoming 30,000+ square foot facility is visited by more than 40,000 people each year. BlackRock Center for the Arts includes two theaters, two galleries, several artist and dance studios, outdoor concert stage, rooftop terrace, and a stunning lobby space with soaring ceilings and beautiful natural light.     The historic Button Farm, home to the Menare Foundation, is Maryland’s only living history center depicting 19th century slave plantation life and the heroic story of the Underground Railroad through our unique living history experiences. Situated on 40-acres inside of Seneca Creek State Park in Germantown, Maryland, we restore and maintain the historic buildings and preserve the cultural landscape as a resource for education, preservation, history and heritage.

    Carpe Diem Arts develops, coordinates, and implements multigenerational and multicultural community events and arts outreach activities in and around Montgomery County. Our goal is to create opportunities for people of all ages and walks of life to participate in the visual, literary, and performing arts. Through creative partnerships, we impact diverse and under- resourced populations and support the livelihoods of master teaching and performing artists who represent a broad range of cultures and traditions.     ALOHA! WE ARE HĀLAU NOHONA HAWAIʻI, which refers to all things anchored in Hawaiian; living the Hawaiian way. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit Hawaiian cultural school located in Silver Spring, MD. Our goal is to enrich and make a positive impact on our communities by sharing the spirit of aloha. Classes are available for children (starting at age 4) and adults alike starting with beginner to advanced students (with separate women’s and men’s classes). Classes are held each Sunday (excluding most holidays) at the White Oak Community Recreation Center in Silver Spring, MD. Currently, classes consist of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Language), Hula Kahiko (Ancient Hula), Hula ʻAuana (Modern Hula), Oli (Chant), Hawaiian Singing Choir, and Hawaiian Arts and Crafts for all ages and levels.

    Justice Arts Coalition (JAC) unites teaching artists, arts advocates, currently and formerly incarcerated artists, and allies, harnessing the transformative power of the arts to reimagine justice. Through the sharing of resources, stories, and learning opportunities, JAC is building a nationwide collective of people who are committed to increasing opportunities for creative expression in carceral settings, amplifying the voices of those most impacted by mass incarceration, and shaping public dialogue around the intersection of the arts and justice.

    resented by the Edlavitch DCJCC, JxJ is a new multidisciplinary arts project that will encompass the Washington Jewish Film Festival and the Washington Jewish Music Festival alongside original cutting edge hybrid arts programming—all presented as one massive three-week experience, taking over the greater Washington region. One of the largest and most respected Jewish film festivals in North America, the Washington Jewish Film Festival (WJFF) is an international exhibition of cinema that celebrates the diversity of Jewish history, culture and experience through the moving image. The WJFF is going into its 29th year. Established in 1999 with a lead gift from the Howard and Geraldine Polinger Family Foundation, the Washington Jewish Music Festival (WJMF) promotes a broad appreciation of Jewish culture through presentations of extraordinary performing artists who preserve and invigorate Jewish music in contemporary culture.

    Kalanidhi Dance is a non-profit organization that is committed to the preservation, promotion and education of Kuchipudi dance, an Indian Classical dance style that originated in Andhra Pradesh, India. Founded by Anuradha Nehru in 1991, Kalanidhi’s mission is to raise the profile of Indian Classical dance in the United States by presenting professional and outstanding quality dance productions and training the next generation of Indian Classical dancers to the highest standards.

    Do you remember the very first time you fell in love?   That feeling that you just can't put into words?   I have been painting all my life.   I drift into and out of impressionism and post-impressionism.   I do landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes.   I use color to create emotion and feeling.   My goal is always to leave the viewer with that feeling that you just can't put into words.

    Musical Arts International, Inc. (MAI) began in 1995 as a cultural outreach program in Montgomery County, Maryland. Its artistic mission is to encourage and inspire audiences of all ages to appreciate chamber music, to uncover the tremendous wealth and variety of music in its repertoire, to encourage and premiere new works and to advance cultural growth with artistic presentation featuring music of all styles. In the past, well known artists and ensembles featuring classical chamber works, past and nowadays, have been presented, and new works have been premiered. In 1999, a Jazz night was included featuring such greats as Gershwin, Porter, Ellington, and etc., in order to reach a wide audience in the community. High school students are encouraged to volunteer in concerts to earn credit for community service. In 2000, a web site was initiated. Our concerts have been featured in Gazette Entertainment, CultureSpotMC.com, Asian Fortune, World Journal, Washington Chinese Daily News and others. We have received favorable reviews from the Washington Post, World Journal and other local newspapers. Concert-goers enjoy the intimate chamber music settings at an affordable price and consider the programs entertaining and educational. The newly established Question/Answer time, and warm reception to meet the artists after the concert have been an amazing expereicne for all who attended. MAI hopes to continue to bring music of high artistic quality to the community and to use this as a vehicle to unite people in love, joy, and peace.

    Prakriti Dance is a performing company founded by Co-Artistic Directors Kasi Aysola and Madhvi Venkatesh. It uses the movement vocabulary of the Indian classical dance form, Bharata Natyam, to communicate inspirations from nature, philosophy and human experience. Prakriti Dance uses traditional lexicon to communicate diverse ideas that are relevant across all communities. By interweaving lyrics, dance, and visual design, Prakriti Dance explores multifaceted presentations to transcend cultural boundaries. The company seeks to engage with diverse audiences through vivid performances and workshops to promote understanding and appreciation of Bharata Natyam.

    The Sutradhar Institute of Dance and Related Arts (SIDRA) offers Kuchipudi classical dance as a technically perfectible, elegant art, an audience empowering experience and joyous classroom learning,.  To bouncing four year olds up to dedicated adults, SIDRA brings a rich tapestry of yoga, cross-training, story telling, martial arts and rhythm analysis.  Workouts wind down with hand mudras, Sanskrit shlokas and sacred stories from India.  Older students follow lively exchanges before and after class about art.  Guided by Nilimma Devi, noted AIIS scholar, and Anila Kumari, writer, the classes coax dancers to think and be passionate.

TWHS features its resident performing group, Caribbean Dance Traditions, at numerous events and programs including: Discover Strathmore: Colors of the Caribbean, World of Montgomery Festival, Takoma Park Folk Festival, Magical Montgomery, Taste of Wheaton, Wheaton Arts Parade, Silver Spring Dance Fitness Festival, Discover Bonifant, Rockville International Night, Gaithersburg DiverCity Fest, Caribbean Day at KIDMuseum, Caribbean Heritage Festival, Port Towns Day, DC International Festival, H Street Festival, Embassies and County Libraries and schools. We bring movement and music from around the Caribbean, West Africa, Asia and Europe to diverse audiences and continue to support collaborations of cultural traditions in creating exciting theatrical presentations.
