Drawing on the enthusiasm of local musicians, the Washington Metropolitan Gamer Symphony Orchestra will strive to draw new audiences to both video game music and orchestral concerts.

The Metro GSO grew from the spirit of the Gamer Symphony Orchestra at the University of Maryland College Park, the nation’s first collegiate orchestra devoted exclusively to performing video game music.

Several graduates discussed creating a community-level orchestra to continue the mission of the university group. Metro GSO, founded in summer 2012, is the result. The ensemble’s first rehearsal was in August 2013.

Information on joining the ensemble is available at: http://www.wmgso.org/index.php/join-the-wmgso
