The Manager, Major Gifts reports to the Director, Major Gifts and Leadership Campaigns. The primary responsibility of this dynamic position is to oversee the coordination of major gifts, specifically, national and international fundraising programs totaling approximately $10M in annual support.  These fundraising programs include the Board of Trustees, which is the governing body of the nation’s cultural center and living memorial to President Kennedy appointed by the President of the United States. This position would also work with the President’s Advisory Committee on the Arts (PACA), which is comprised of civic and cultural leaders who are selected by the President of the United States to serve as representatives in their own communities for the Kennedy Center. Lastly, the portfolio includes the Kennedy Center International Committee on the Arts (KCICA),which is a constituent committee comprised of business and arts leaders from around the world.

The Manager also supports the Director by participating in designated giving and special institution-wide fundraising efforts, specifically as they pertain to the donors in each respective portfolio. Examples of these efforts include the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Kennedy Center and major events. This position stewards six-, seven-, and eight-figure gifts and works closely with the Board of Trustees on their personal and philanthropic engagement with the Center.  The Manager of Major Gifts will have the opportunity to deepen relationships with existing donors as well as cultivate new Trustees, members of the committees, and prospects.

The Manager prioritizes their time, resources, and work load to maximize productivity and financial results; exercises discretion; evaluates complex internal and external relationships; and regularly takes initiative to advance the objectives and goals of multiple campaigns. This position works across teams and departments frequently. The position also oversees two Assistant Managers and one Assistant.
