Position Description

Primary responsibilities of the Development Coordinator are to support our day-to-day fundraising activities, with focus on donor relationships and foundation proposals. This is an exciting position for someone looking to build professional relationships and practical skillsets with a growing performing arts organization and cultural community in the metro DC area.

The Development Coordinator works closely with NOW’s operations, marketing, and artistic staff and reports to Executive Director.

This is an independent contractor position with a flexible schedule of 5–10 hours a week.

Due to COVID-19, we are mostly working remotely right now, but you are welcome to work in our office space in Rockville, MD.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

INDIVIDUAL DONATION DEVELOPMENT

  • Work with Executive Director to create and maintain a fundraising calendar, including fundraising campaigns and special events.

  • Work with Executive Director and Gala committee to support NOW’s annual gala: managing mailing and invitations, RSVP tracking, event set-up, etc.

  • Manage NOW’s CRM platform (currently AudienceView): accurate entry and updates of donor information and maintenance of records, patron and donation reports.

  • Keep individual donor list up-to-date for programs and reporting.

  • Coordinate NOW’s donor cultivation efforts along with Executive Director, Artistic Director, and Board of Directors, including receipts to donors, tax acknowledgement and thank-you letters, and stewardship events.

  • Provide ongoing fundraising reports that help inform the strategic direction of future initiatives.

GRANT/PROPOSAL

  • Research, Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with foundation and institutional funders.

  • Write proposals, reports, solicitation letters, and other written materials as needed for foundation and institutional funding.

  • Support NOW’s grant writer for government grants (county, state, and federal).

OTHER DUTIES

  • Work collaboratively on inter-departmental initiatives, programs and events.

  • Additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong collaborative team player in a dynamic, results-oriented, and entrepreneurial environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong time management, project management, and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build and cultivate relationships

  • Excellent computer skills including experience with CRM databases and Microsoft Office

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 1–2 years of experience with nonprofit development operations
