Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Operations Manager provides general accounting, human resources, and operations support for the organization. The role serves as a primary liaison to vendors, suppliers, and building management while also serving as a coordinator for board meetings and special events.
Salary Range: $55,000–$60,000
FLSA Status: Exempt, Full-time

Duties/Responsibilities
Accounting, HR, and Operations Support
- Liaises with MH’s accounting vendor(s) to maintain strong internal controls, bookkeeping, and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Provides recruitment and onboarding support for HR matters, including serving as a backup for payroll processing
- Liaises with the building’s facilities management team by managing office access (key distribution), reporting repairs, and training on workspace amenities
- Liaises with the IT consultants, identifies and reports tech issues, provides initial troubleshooting support, reviews IT-related policies and capital budget needs annually
- Monitors and maintains office space, equipment, supplies, and both digital and physical filing spaces
- Interfaces, tracks, and manages relationships with multiple MH vendors and service providers
Board Relations Support
- Oversees the logistics of board meetings (e.g., venue, food, guests, tech, materials, etc.)
- Maintains board membership materials and manages travel for board meetings, when necessary
- Updates the National Endowment for the Humanities memberships and the Federation mailing lists
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Proficient with Google Drive and other collaboration workspaces
- Experience with collaboration platforms such as Asana and Slack
- Ability to manage confidential information with tact and discretion
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with vendors and stakeholders
- A basic understanding of Racial Equity and how it relates to the role
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years (36 months) work experience in an administrative or client support role
- Effective project and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and spreadsheet tool
- Ability to perform accounting duties and utilize QuickBooks effectively
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Expected to work onsite at least 2 days per work week
