The Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture, Cultural Events & Services Division, is seeking a part-time events coordinator to assist with the coordination, logistics, and implementation of large community festivals. The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting lead programmers with event logistics, equipment organization, orders, data management and administrative duties.

The successful candidate will be a positive, creative, and resourceful self-starter who can learn quickly and work efficiently in support of a variety of events and who values making a positive impact on the community. You must be highly customer focused, diplomatic, an effective verbal and written communicator, possess solid computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel and Google Docs and Sheets), have the demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines, and be able to work both independently and as part of the team. Moderate physical effort is required.

Approximately 25 hours per week. In-office business hours are Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Requires weekend availability according to the events schedule and the flexibility to work over 25 hours per week in the weeks leading up to an event. A core work schedule will be established upon hire.

Starting hourly rate will be within the range and is dependent on qualifications and experience. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.
