POSITION SUMMARY

The Arts Administrators of Color Network (AAC) is seeking a seasoned nonprofit development professional with a connection to the arts and a passion for building revenue streams for organizations supporting communities of the global majority. The Development Director is a salaried, exempt position that will lead the design of AAC’s fundraising approach in close collaboration with Karla Estela Rivera (Executive Director), and (as the 2nd hire and paid staff member of the organization) and will play a critical role in co-building AAC’s day-to-day culture and organizational direction through their passion, idealism, integrity and commitment to AAC’s mission. The ideal candidate deeply understands the current philanthropic landscape and the systemic challenges organizations of the global majority face, and has a desire to create funding pathways that are community-focused and human-centered. The start date of this position is flexible, but we are hoping for someone to start mid/late May 2023.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design of AAC’s fundraising framework that is in alignment with AAC’s values and strategic goals via grant writing/reporting, individual giving activities, and cultivation of major donors
  • Support the transition of our board as they begin their move from a working board to a fundraising board
  • Co-facilitate co-learning and reflection spaces for staff and board members to discuss alternative models for funding rooted in liberatory practices and anti-racist frameworks
  • Understand the history of philanthropy and can develop and execute anti-racist and restorative development strategies while navigating existing systems
  • Work collectively with staff to ensure that AAC’s story is clear and amplified
  • Work collaboratively, support, and execute strategy with potential development contractors
  • Create and meet yearly development goals that are aligned to AAC’s strategic vision and values
  • Successfully cultivate relationships with current and prospective individuals, foundations, government, and corporations who are aligned with our values and principles
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and overall management of AC’s CRM

PAYMENT STRUCTURE:

The annual salary for this full-time exempt position is $85,000 and is a 3-year contract position. Currently, this salary is non-negotiable. Benefits include health care, dental and unlimited PTO.

CONDITIONS OF WORK:

The position is fully remote and predominantly seated and stationary. Evening and weekend work and travel may be needed occasionally.
