The Artistic Programming Coordinator at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center provides both strong administrative and curatorial support to the National Orchestral Institute + Festival (NOI+F) and The Clarice’s presented music programming, with a focus on classical and jazz. Reporting to the Co-Director for Artistic Programming and Director of the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, the Artistic Programming Coordinator is a collaborative voice on the artistic programming team with a focus season curation, administration, festival design, and partnership development.
For the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, the Artistic Programming Coordinator focuses on partnership building and cultivation, community engagement, and curriculum design in consultation with the Director to assist in building forward both NOI+F and The Clarice’s annual music programming.
The Artistic Programming Coordinator will take primary responsibility for coordinating the student body during the institute and festival including intersections with the UMD School of Music; designing and administering seminars on professional development; and strengthening connections to past participants. The Coordinator is a primary voice in collaboration with the Director on evaluating student auditions for admission to the institute. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees the application and admission process for the festival and institute.
For The Clarice’s classical and jazz presented artists, the Coordinator works in collaboration with the Director to evaluate and schedule guest artists; process contracts; conduct artist research; create itineraries; and coordinate departmental workflows related to budgeting, production, marketing, and communications. The coordinator will work to build partnerships across campus and within the larger presenting community that value inclusion, anti-racism, social justice, and the power of art.
The Artistic Programming Coordinator will stand in for the Co-Director as requested for performance duty, artistic meetings and events, staff meetings, and other public-facing events to be determined.
$58,000-$65,000, commensurate with experience.
