Native History and Culture Camp

Presented by Sandy Spring Museum at Sandy Spring Museum

will introduce participants to the rich and vibrant Native cultures of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay region. Through lecture/demonstrations, hands-on activities, and workshops, participants will learn about Native worldview, history, and geography of tribes before contact, traditional foods and plants, storytelling and music, material culture and lifeways, archaeology, games, and technology. Mini-workshops and demonstrations will include making pinch pots, cattail dolls, cordage, finger weaving, and making fire. Before and after care: 8-8:30 and 3-5, $20 extra. Tuition: $70 for members; $75 for non-members. Attendance: Maximum of 30 participants.
