With a distinctive guitar style, wry humor, and warm, expressive voice, Tom Rush is both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been can be, and will become. They are a musical celebration filled with masterfully told stories, the sweet melancholy of ballads, and the passion of gritty blues.
His music has left its stamp on generations of artists, helping to shape the folk revival in the ‘60’s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s. James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Tom Petty, and Garth Brooks have cited Tom as a major influence. His early recordings introduced the world to the work of Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, and James Taylor. Subsequently, his Club 47 concerts brought attention to emerging artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin.
Tom is now celebrating his 52nd year on stage and in the studio, still doing what audiences love him for: writing and playing passionately while tenderly knitting together the musical traditions and talents of our times.
