Ready to learn more about poetry or re-kindle your writing practice? In this 8-week course, you'll deepen your experience with poetry with a focus on craft?each session will be devoted to an aspect of craft (line, sound, imagery, form). We'll also learn by close reading great poems. Students will be encouraged to write a poem each week via writing assignments and receive lots of helpful, encouraging feedback from the instructor. Each student will have a poem workshopped by the class, and come away with a solid knowledge of how poems are built and an appreciation for their strength and magic. We'll use "The Poet's Companion" as a text; so please bring a copy to the first class.
