Artists & Makers Studios Presents
One Special September Exhibit In Three Galleries
“TRANS/FORM.ATION”
(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios in Rockville will present one exhibit in three galleries for the month of September, curated by NOVA Printmakers collective member/artist Janis Sweeney, and featuring the works of 11 member artists. The three-dimensional work explores the concept of the transformative possibilities of “form” based on a generic dress form substrate. Hand-pulled prints by member artists will round out the exhibit.
“TRANS/FORM.ATION”
Opening Reception
6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Friday, September 9, 2016
TRANS/FORM.ATION with Meaghan Busch, Amelia Hankin Cashin, Minji Kim, Jun Lee, Nahid Navab, Osbel Susman Pena, Jorge Porrata, Alice Quatrochi, Rae Quellette, Kelli Sincock and Janis Sweeney starts with a generic dress form as their substrate to begin a dialogue, within and throughout the form, on the subject of transformation. Through construction, deconstruction and re-construction, they provide the observer with an innovative concept of identity and formulate a criticism of the representation of “image” as viewed by the artist. In addition to the main body of work, the collective has also included an exhibit of their hand-pulled prints in this three gallery exhibit.
The exhibit opens Friday, September 9th, and continues through Wednesday, September 28th, 2016. Viewing hours are 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Saturdays, and Sundays by appointment.
