Trio Joyeuse-Ward, Kong Cello-Piano Duo + Li-Ly Chang

Please join us to hear these two talented young musicians performing great classics of cello and piano music. Li-Ly Chang will join Kimberly Kong for the popular Schubert Fantasie in F minor. Alicia Ward, cellist, was selected as an Artist in Residence at Strathmore for the 2010-2011 season, at which time her debut CD Tableaux was released. As an active chamber musician, she has been invited to the Kneisel Hall, the Menuhin Chamber Music Seminar in San Francisco, and the International Music Academy in the Czech Republic. In 2005, Ms. Ward was one of twelve cellists selected to perform at the International Piatigorsky Seminar for Cellists held at the University of Southern California. She has also been invited to the Banff International Cello Master Classes and the Young Artists Program of the National Arts Centre, under the direction of Pinchas Zukerman. Ms Ward has won many competitions, including the Lennox International , the National Symphony Soloist , and 2nd prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competitions. She has been the grand prize winner of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artists , The Fairfax Symphony Feuer String , and the Washington Performing Arts Society Competition. Ms. Ward She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory where she studied with David Hardy and her Master of Music degree from the New England Conservatory with Laurence Lesser.

Korean-American pianist, Kimberly Kong, first attracted public attention at the age of 9 with her successful debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra., playing the Haydn Piano Concerto in D Major at Heinz Hall under the baton of Edward Cumming. Since then, she has appeared frequently as a soloist with the orchestra under the baton of Marvin Hamlish. Other notable solo appearances include recitals at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall Kennedy Center , Heinz Hall , PNC Hall , Puccini Theater in Italy. In 2005, she made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra performing the Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor at the Kennedy Center.She has won many competitions, including grand prize at the 1998 Cincinnati World Comp., first prize at the 2003 Helen Clay Frick Scholarship , first prize at the 2002 Pittsburgh Concert Society , first Prize at the National Symphony Orchestra Young Soloists , 2007 Koscuiszko Chopin Piano Comp. in New York, Grand Prize of Margaret A. Guthman Keyboard , second prize at the 20th Bartok-Prokofiev-Kabelevsky and second prize at the 2006 Music Teachers National Association. Ms. Kong had her Bachelor of Music at Peabody Institute where she studied with Yong Hi Moon, Master of Music from the Julliard School with Julian Martin. She is an Artist in Residence at Strathmore 2016.

Li-Ly Chang, pianist, composer, has won may awards, competitions & grants. She is the recipient of both Md State Music Teachers' and Montgomery County Music Teachers' Association grant in  2015. Currently she is a faculty member at Montgomery College.
