Solo exhibition of recent paintings by Lillian Hoover that reflect encounters with the unfettered, dynamic sky and static, banal architecture.
In Lillian Bayley Hoover’s recent paintings, pieces of sky and architecture wedge up against one another reflecting encounters with environments on the brink of change yet strangely static. The world in Hoover’s compositions is moving and still, represented and abstracted, caught for the moment in a tense intersection of opposing energies. The paintings are compelling glimpses of ordinary, awkward places.
