Gallery B - January Exhibition

Presented by Bethesda Urban Partnership at Gallery B

 Gallery B is pleased to present its first exhibition of the 2015: Coloring All the Angles, featuring artists Fran Abrams, Bob Elliott and Eric Garner.

Coloring All the Angles will be on display from January 7-31 at Gallery B, located at 7700 Wisconsin Avenue, Suite E, Bethesda, MD. Gallery hours for the show will be Wednesday – Saturday, 12-6pm.

The exhibition’s opening reception will coincide with the monthly Bethesda Art Walk on Friday, January 9 from 6-9pm.

Fran Abrams (Rockville, MD) grew up in Montgomery County, leaving temporarily to earn bachelors and masters degrees at Miami University, Oxford, OH and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, respectively. She retired from her day job in 2010 after 41 years of public service in government and nonprofit agencies in Montgomery County. She then helped to found the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room in the Silver Spring Civic Building in downtown Silver Spring, MD, serving as manager from 2010-2012. Fran's work is shown regularly at Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. In addition, her work has been juried into numerous exhibits in the greater DC metropolitan area as well as outside the region. In May 2014, her piece titled "Warmth of the Fire" won Best in 2D Art in the International Polymer Clay Awards competition that included entries from artists around the world.

Bob Elliott (Bethesda, MD) is showed an interest in the arts from an early age, particularly drawing and painting, but was always interested in the ongoing application and use of computers. Elliott received his first formal training in art and photography at Rice University while pursuing his degrees in architecture. Following his studies at Rice, he moved to Chicago to practice architecture and worked on a number of significant design commissions under the direct supervision of internationally renowned architect, Helmut Jahn. In 1997, Elliott stopped practicing architecture to pursue a career in real estate in the United States and abroad. He moved back to Bethesda in 2002 and has been working in real estate development. His art has been seen and sold at a number of local shows over the last 10 years. In 2012, Elliott was selected as a Tunnel Vision: Art Under the Avenue artist.

Eric Garner (Bethesda MD) has been featured numerous times throughout the mid-Atlantic region. This is Garner’s third time returning to Gallery B. As a Bethesda Painting Award finalist, Garner’s work was featured at Gallery B in June 2012. His work showcases an interest in patterning and visual systems, with influences such as American quilts, Islamic arts and infrastructure design conventions. Garner holds a Master of Fine Art degree from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science and Art degree in Studio Art and Engineering from Stanford University. He currently teaches drawing and painting at NOVA - Woodbridge, as well as at the Yellow Barn Studio in Glen Echo, MD.
