Primary Blues: Blues 101 for Families

Primary Blues: Blues 101 for Families

Presented by Strathmore at Music Center at Strathmore

With a special introduction by Mercy Morgenfield,
Daughter of Muddy Waters

Go back to the well for a refreshing taste of the blues that the entire family can enjoy. America’s enduring musical genre is presented in a 45-minute, multimedia concert by alumni of Strathmore’s Artist in Residence program. These topflight musicians are ready not just to entertain but also to teach you the basics of the full-hearted, foot-tapping music we call the blues. Where did it come from, how did it evolve, and what’s it all about? You’ll get the lowdown on call and response; 12-bar blues chord progression, lyric structure, and improvisation. This music lesson brings the blues and its iconic artists to life.
