Backpack Filmmaker Bootcamp I: The Self-Sufficient Doc Shooter

Backpack Filmmaker Bootcamp I: The Self-Sufficient Doc Shooter

Presented by Docs In Progress at Docs In Progress

This hands-on, four-session workshop will encompass an overview of the tools used in solo documentary shooting: camera operation, cinematography technique, lighting and audio recording. Over the course of four days, participants will learn how to prepare for a shoot, the essential equipment needed for the field, safety best practices, how to adapt to difficult conditions, and how to “shoot for the editor.” The third and fourth days will include shooting exercises conducted in the field and group discussion of collected footage.

This workshop is ideally suited for beginners who may have had some basic video production experience or training.  If you are a beginner, you should be aware that the content created in this workshop are exercises only. If you are looking to get a broader overview of the basics of video production and produce a complete video, we recommend our Intro to Documentary Production class which could be taken before or after this workshop.

Docs In Progress will provide HD cameras for participants to share as they are learning skills in this workshop.
