Camp Ramayana is a month-long summer camp for children aged 5 and above. The Ramayana is a 2000-year old epic, about the heroic archetype of India's archer prince, Rama and princess, Sita. Like Homer's Odyssey, the Ramayana is complex and epic in impact, but the battle between good and evil, remains as current as any age-old classic. The unique, multi-cultural richness of SIDRA brings a uniquely global, interactive, joyous approach to teaching and staging this beautiful work.
Campers learn:
Dance technique, drumming, story-telling, martial arts, yoga, mask-making, Sanskrit poetry in music, basic art technique, and creative writing
Running for over 20 years, the camp is a beloved community fixture, with many children returning year after year, first attending as junior campers and then later as camp counselors.
