Museum After Hours: Railway Mail Service

Presented by Gaithersburg Community Museum at Gaithersburg Community Museum

Almost from the time the railroad began there was a Railway Mail Service. For much of its existence, until it’s end in 1977, the Railway Mail Service carried the bulk of our letters and packages across the country. Dr. Frank Scheer, Curator of the Railway Mail Service Library, will discuss this important aspect of railroading history. Cost: $5, space is limited so reservations required. 301-258-6160 or museum@gaithersburgmd.gov to register.
