The Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture is pleased to present Sara Dittrich: Arrhythmia of the Body.
The artist often takes a multimedia approach, incorporating elements of sculpture and performance to investigate the dynamic acts of listening, communicating, and moving. "Arrhythmia of the Body" features photographs and 2D mixed media works that meditate on the acts of listening, making, and moving. The main focus of the exhibition will be a series of photos that document the artist moving through space wearing gigantic prosthetic hands and feet. The prosthetics were designed to disrupt the artist's everyday movements, in order to make her more conscious of them. Supplementing this work will be a series of 2D mixed media panels composed of hundreds of tiny ears created out of clay. They will be arranged in ways that encourage the viewer to develop a renewed awareness of the human body.
