Twinbrook Cultures Open Mic

Let’s celebrate our cultural heritage! In honor of “El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day)”, we are looking for our Twinbrook customers to come sing, say, or dance for us a song, poem, or reading from your culture that is meaningful to you. All ages and abilities are welcome to perform. Please keep content Family Friendly and limited to 5 minutes per “act.” A Guitar, Ukulele, Piano, Microphone, CD Player and small amplifier will be available for use, or you may bring your own instrument as needed. Readers of poetry, speeches, writings, A Capella music, recordings, or dance are welcome. Dancers should plan on a maximum space of 20 feet wide by 10 feet deep. Please be prepared to briefly explain why your piece is meaningful to you, and its cultural heritage. Cultural attire (audience and participants) is also highly encouraged!

If you want to perform, please send an email or call Eric Carzon, Library Services Manager, 240-777-0249, (Eric.carzon@montgomerycountymd.gov). Please tell Eric your name and the name of your act, briefly describe your act, leave your contact information, how long you think your act is (limit is 5 minutes), any equipment needs, special requests or questions. Those desiring to perform are strongly advised to contact Eric Carzon no later than April 8th, but we will take all performers, including walk-ins the day of the program, if there is time left for them and their equipment needs can be met. Acts will generally be scheduled to perform in the order they contact Eric, unless they request otherwise, or equipment needs or other considerations require some acts to be put earlier or later.
