Performing with two lutes, vocals, colascione, and percussion, Ayreheart offers a program of Renaissance music and traditional folk music from the British Isles: Will You Walk the Woods so Wild.
GRAMMY-nominated lutenist, Ronn McFarlane strives to bring the lute - the most popular instrument of the Renaissance - into today’s musical mainstream and make it accessible to a wider audience.
Since taking up the lute in 1978, Ronn has made his mark in music as the founder of Ayreheart. Ayreheart’s original music is an eclectic mix that includes elements of Folk, Celtic & Bluegrass. The group was formed to feature the lute in a completely new context, mixing with vocals, percussion, and an unusual string instrument: the colascione.
Music of John Dowland and William Byrd will be featured in this program, alongside anonymous ballad tunes and folk songs from Renaissance England, Scotland, and Wales.
