Robert Frost: Education by Poetry

Robert Frost: Education by Poetry

Presented by Live & Learn Bethesda at Live & Learn Bethesda

Some of you will recall the inauguration of President Kennedy on a bitterly cold day when four-time Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Frost spoke from memory the historic words of “The Gift Outright.”  Most will remember from childhood such popular favorites as “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” and “The Road Not Taken.”  My lecture will touch upon these better-known verses.  In addition, it will provide an overview of the poet’s life, with special attention to the at-home teaching of his children. You will be able to appreciate both the accessibility of his poems and their underlying complexity.

Dr. Lesley Lee Francis, Author, Granddaughter of Robert Frost
