The Countryside Artisans of Maryland represent a collection of artists that live and work in the countryside, in and around Montgomery County’s highly-regarded Agricultural Reserve.  The way the Ag Reserve inspires these artists every day emerges in their work.  The Countryside Artisans use the agricultural landscape either as their material or their muse, and often both.  In short, the Ag Reserve feeds their work.

As you roam the countryside through this exhibit at BlackRock Center for the Arts, observe how the textiles, fiber, stone, oils, watercolors, pastels, glass, clay, stoneware, and porcelain reflect the natural and diverse beauty of our local rural landscape.  The Ag Reserve satisfies not only our fundamental need for subsistence, but also our fundamental need for creation.
