Horton Foote's A Coffin in Egypt

Horton Foote's A Coffin in Egypt

Presented by Quotidian Theatre Company at The Writer's Center

Per DC Theatre Scene critic Tim Treanor, "Quotidian takes a back seat to no theater in Washington as an interpreter of Foote." As a part of Quotidian Theatre Company's (QTC) 20th Anniversary celebration, we are including a rare play by Academy Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Horton Foote--the one-woman show A COFFIN IN EGYPT. Jane Squier Bruns, who excelled as Carrie Watts in Foote's THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL and as Josie Weems in NIGHT SEASONS, now recounts a moving tale of the dramatic life of Myrtle Bledsoe, a ninety-year-old Texas widow. Directed by acclaimed Horton Foote specialist Jack Sbarbori. Jane Squier Bruns is a QTC acting company member, who was previously seen in QTCs NIGHT SEASONS (Josie Weems), LETTICE AND LOVAGE (Lettice), THE VEIL (Grandy), the musical of JAMES JOYCE'S THE DEAD (Aunt Julia), THE CHERRY ORCHARD (Ranyevskaya), THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL (Carrie Watts), PYGMALION (Mrs. Higgins), and Foote's THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER (Mamie). Other favorite roles performed in many different venues through a lot of years include Amanda Wingfield in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, Anna in THE KING AND I, Kate in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, and Desiree Armfeldt in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC.
